Summerfavorites for children

Fottur med barneoppgaver underveis

Bring your children on your holiday to Rjukan, and they will surely come home happy and satisfied. Here we have listed a tour around in Rjukan suitable for children.

Start of in Rjukan city centre with "Byjakten". This is a small tour with clues leading to different tasks. After completed tour, all participating children receive a small prize. Worksheet can be found in our brochure racks around the municipality or in Rjukan Tourist Office. The trip takes about 1 hour.

2 km west, in the direction towards Rauland, you will find Krossobanen cable car. The children can be the conductor for a day, and helping to run Krossobanen either up or down.

In each gondola there are two sacks hanging; "Solsekken". This is a sack with various tasks to be solved along the familyfriendly path Solstien.

After the hike along Solstien, it can be nice with a stop at Rjukanbadet. This is a winner for the whole family. Rjukanbadet is a swimming complex with slides, diving boards, climbing wall, training pool for the little ones, a wellness center for the grown ups, outdoor area and much more. Rjukanbadet is situated 1 km east of Rjukan, by the Stadium. At Rjukan Church, turn right and cross the bridge that leads over to Rjukan Hytteby.

Approximately 10 km east of Rjukan, at Mæl and Tinsjø kro & Camping, the children can try tricycles along the Rjukan railway. Fine picnic areas along the way, and great views of Gaustatoppen.

Great accomodation for children is Sandviken Camping in Tinn Austbygd. Here there are great swimming and fishing possibillites, mini golf and a playground.
Sandviken Camping is close to Håvardsrud Seterliv.

Håvardsrud Seterliv is a mountain farm and is situated in Dakkeset. Follow signs to Veggli. At Håvardsrud Seterliv the children can participate in the cowshed, cuddle with the animals, ride horses, or try out the good traditional food made on the farm.
